Located in Augusta, Georgia the Augusta Museum of History was founded in 1937 to become a place to preserve and share the rich history of Augusta, as well as its surrounding area. The museum is housing numerous artifacts, dioramas, images that showcase the broad spectrum of the roots of Augusta.
The Augusta Museum of History preserves, collects, and interprets history concerning the past of Central Savannah River and the Augusta region so it could reach the future generation the essence, education, and importance of enriching the past. The museum is curating the largest and most diversely significant historical collection in the CSRA, as well as the functions as historical research and resource center for amateur and expert historians, organizations, media, and individuals.
